Dear Brother, Hello...
It's been almost a year since I last wrote to you.
I have always thought of you, but since you are constantly moving around, I did not know where to send this letter this time. Please do not think I have forgotten you. I have always kept you in my thoughts. Every night before bed, I wondered what you were doing and prayed for you. Of course, I also prayed for your family and all our brothers and sisters there. As I mentioned in my first letter, my mother said, "Muslims are brothers," so you and everyone there are my brothers.
After such a long time, I learned that we have a neighbor who went to a
country very close to yours. They deliver aid to your country. Uncle Bekir
works at an aid organization. I told him about my letter, and he was very
happy. He said he could deliver my letter along with the aid. By the way, I saw
that aid was being dropped into the sea in plastic bottles from a country very
close to yours. Perhaps my letter will reach you that way. I have hope, my brother...
I am watching the situation in your country with sadness. The reports about
hunger and thirst deeply upset me. Here, schools will open tomorrow. In your
country, schools have been closed for a very long time. You do not even have a
school to attend. It brings tears to my eyes when I think about it.
As you know, I started 4th grade this year. I'm a year older now and can
fast. To share in the hunger of your country, I also fast two days a week.
While I study for my classes, I also study for you. This makes me feel like I
can share your pain, which lessens my urge to cry a little.
Activities are being held in our country to support yours. My family and I
participate regularly. In fact, people all over the world are constantly
holding activities to support your country. The ship Sumud is sailing
towards you from many countries around the world. During this process, I have
come to understand very well how important it is to be determined, and how
necessary perseverance and patience are.
Don't think we're living comfortably here. No, we're not comfortable at
all. My mind and heart are with you and our other brothers and sisters...
We used to go on vacation to the seaside every year. This summer, my dad
said, “We can't go on vacation while our brothers and sisters are hungry.”
We supported our dad and looked for ways to send our vacation money to help
your country. I hope it reached you.
Of course, we didn't just sit around because we didn't go on vacation. My
mom mentioned that your country's flag is banned in your country, but
watermelons represent your country. I found that really interesting. Did you
know I love watermelon?
One evening while eating watermelon, I had an idea. I saw a
watermelon-shaped keychain at an event supporting your country. My mom is very
talented, as I mentioned before. She immediately started knitting watermelons.
My siblings, friends, and I all helped put the watermelons together with the
keychain parts. My dad took all the keychains we made to the event area, and they
sold out quickly. We were all very happy.
Yesterday, I talked with my friend Ömer. Unfortunately, we won't be able to
join the Sumud ship because we are too young. Most importantly, most of
the people going are doctors. When we grow up, we want to be doctors too, so we
can be useful to our brothers and sisters.
Brother, I know you are in a very difficult situation. But you wouldn't
believe how much your situation has changed the world. Everyone is talking
about you and where you live. I am proud of you and your resistance. I am also
very happy to be a part of this resistance. It's wonderful that people are
noticing your country and organizing events for you in places where we don't
even speak the language. Thank ALLAH, my brother, you and your country have
been the starting point of a great awakening.
Surely these days will end. We will meet one day. Never lose hope...
Believe me, when everything changes, I will hold you tight, so tight that I
will never let go.
My brother, whom I love so much without ever seeing...
ALLAH is my witness, I love you so much.
ALLAH is my witness, I think of you so much.
My brother, may ALLAH protect you!
With greetings and prayers...
