MY LOVE JENNIFER

“My love, Jennifer…” The breeze in the wilderness was sweeping his face like a calm wave touching the sands. There she was coming towards him. Her long blond hair was coming down to her waist. She was gliding over the grass like a gazelle. A beautiful, jaw-dropping…

“RIINNGG!! RRIINNGGG!”

The jarring school bell rang in his head. Suddenly he woke up from his daydream. It was one of the best so far. Last math class he even got to talk to her. Maybe in the next physics class, he’d even have the opportunity to hold her hand?

He gave out a deep sigh. This had to stop. “I have to talk to her.” Sam was one of the top students in his class but his grades were dropping dramatically. It was all because of these daydreams. He couldn’t keep himself from thinking of Jennifer. The most popular girl in the whole school. She was the definition of the beauty. Her long blond hair, sea-green eyes, wide smile, and kind heart… “Stop!” Sam was mumbling when he looked up and saw those sea-green eyes looking at him. “Hi, Sam! Are we still up tonight? I need help with my geography.”

This all started when Mr. Peterson asked Sam to help Jennifer with her schoolwork. At first, Sam was hesitant because he thought Jennifer would only throw every work at him and be gone for some popular kids’ party. On the contrary, she kept track of her work and asked questions, trying to understand the subjects. She wanted to improve her grades and apply to Pen State University to be a veterinarian. She loved animals so much and volunteered in their local animal shelter. She was perfect in every sense.

“Yes, just don’t forget to bring your textbook. I gotta go now…” he packed his things immediately and ran out of the class. He didn’t even wait to hear Jennifer’s answer. Which will probably make everything even more awkward and he’d have to make an explanation tonight.

Sam had this quiet and shy nature which made socializing imaginably difficult when he was a kid. Even now, he only had one friend whom he befriended when he was seven. So talking to Jennifer and expressing his feelings was out of the question. But he also had to get her out of her mind. Even daily tasks were becoming difficult now. The other day he stayed in the shower so long thinking about her, his dad came to check up on him. He knew he had to do something. Just as he was having these thoughts his eye caught a flyer:

“We discovered the depths of space but we forgot who we are and who others are“

Having a deep and critical understanding of self and others is your first step in becoming a successful and happy person in life.

“Knowing yourself”: Simply means understanding and having certainty of who you are, what you stand for and being aware of your strengths and your limitations. We tend to under-estimate the importance of knowing ourselves. Many of us go through each day just getting by and reacting to moments, rather than making conscious choices based on who we are and what we want.

If a person doesn’t know who s/he is and what s/he wants, it is hard to set goals, stay motivated, and build healthy relationships in life at education and work.

We should value ourselves and those around us, and this can only be achieved by knowledge.

So then, "Who Is Who?"

Experiential Design Teaching (DTÖ) aims at transferring experiences. There are a number of ways for transferring experiences. Among them, the best is the way that we transfer the experiences from the nature since the solution of all kinds of problems can be found in the nature.

What can we do to solve our problems?

We should be able to differentiate between real and fake problems.

We should look for the real solutions once we identify the real problems.

How can we transfer from nature and thus, find solutions to our problems?

By being curious about reality rather than fake ones.

Not by looking at but seeing…Not by hearing but listening to…

And feeling…And thinking…And examining…
